One such project that truly fascinated me was the creation of HappySad Game, a game designed to resonate with a spectrum of emotions. Lets delve into the questions that emerged during the development process and how I addressed them.

Question 1: How can a game effectively resent a range of emotions?

To address this question, I turned to the psychological theory of emotions, specifically the concept of the twofactor theory proposed by Schachter and Singer. According to this theory, emotions are the result of physiological arousal and cognitive intertation. I incorporated this into the game design by creating scenarios that could trigger different physiological responses (e.g., running, laughing, crying) and then allowing players to intert these responses through various storylines.

In one level of the game, the players character is chased by a monster. As the player runs, their heart rate increases, mimicking the physiological response of fear. The character then encounters a choice: to hide or confront the monster.
